It’s Wrestlemania weekend! That’s right. 2 nights of the best that Sports Entertainment has to offer. Every wrestler who enters the WWE dreams of headlining Wrestlemania at least once in their career. Some it takes a lifetime and others are the main event. Guys like the Undertaker, The Rock, John Cena, Triple H, Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar and more are all main event and large draw names.

Wrestlemania 37 will be one of the first in attendance live promotions since early 2020 and the WWE has masterfully navigated the waters of not having a live audience for almost all of 2020. Leave it to Wrestlemania to be the first live in person event.

Saturday April 10th

The list of matches is in n specific order.

Tag Team Turmoil

Naomi & Lana; Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke; The Riott Squad; Natalya & Tamina

The story line would set up nicely for Naomi and Lana based on the history Lana has with the champions and Naomi being married to Jay Uso, a cousin of Nia Jax. The last push of notice was for Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke. Natalya and Tamina are not really a threat and would be no threat to Nia and Shayna. The Riott Squad is still trying to mend their wounds from the break off of Sarah Evans. The only team that really stands out to handle or perform for the chance at the titles might be Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke. Both are fan favorites for obvious reasons, but I am not counting out Naomi and Lana.

Naomi and Lana win

The Raw Tag Team Titles

The New Day vs. A.J. Styles and Omos

This match seems a bit to easy to predict but for the longest time I have asked myself, why does A.J. Styles need Omos? Is it a role for Omos to enter into competition at some point after his training has completed? His overwhelming size and intimidation certainly make him a possible threat in the future, but there has to be a defined role. The New Day is one of the best tag teams in WWE history and because of their longevity and chemistry, Kofe and Xavier Woods have been able to retain titles as the New Day even after WWE decided Big E needed to go solo. This build up has been a bit weak.

The New Day Retains

Single Fall - Smackdown

Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro

The WWE has been giving Cesaro a push lately and is likely to continue his push based on crowd response and reaction over the past few months. Seth Rollins is a big enough name which WWE could have falter and still have Rollins as a potential upstart at just about anytime. I would not be surprised to see Cesaro being a US Champ at some point in 2021, especially if he wins at Wrestlemania. Rollins on the other hand has been the face of WWE for some time and the WWE could start him on a push for Roman Reigns for Summer Slam. Having Rollins win could bury Cesaro on the roster possibly seeing the Swiss Cyborg jump ship to AEW or some other brand.

Cesaro Wins

Steel Cage Match

Shane McMahon vs. Braun Strowman

This match is the most lopsided match on the card. The build up between Shane-O-Mac and Braun has been quite interesting with the additions of Elias and Riker as goons. I would not be at all surprised to have Elias using a guitar on Braun as he tries to exit the cage, or slamming the cage door to inhibit the Monster. As a fan, I am not encouraged by the use of Braun and his role. I get that WWE doesn’t want a total domination of one superstar, but logically, the physical attributes are hard to dismiss. Braun should be having title matches lined up, but instead he is fighting a 51 year old McMahon which could lead to some post Wrestlemania theatrics, but Braun would be best served if he turned heel and started gunning for Lashley or Reigns.

Shane McMahon Wins

Single Fall - Tag Team

Bad Bunny & Damian Priest vs. The Miz and John Morrison

Ok, so the story line leading up to this is classic Miz and Morrison. The Miz is the consummate heel who takes on the weaker opponent, in this case Bad Bunny. Expect Damian Priest to do most of the ring work for his team while The Miz and Morrison perform as a tag team should. This match is going to be used to push Damian Priest by also catching a younger demographic with Bad Bunny. There is no need for a Miz and Morrison push other than to push the younger talent. Miz and Morrison are the best at underselling their matches and this one will surely follow suit.

Bad Bunny and Damian Priest WIn

Smackdown Women's Championship

Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair

Bianca Blair earned this shot at a title by winning the Women’s Royal Rumble match. Depending on where this match falls on the card, this match could excite a lot of fans. What that means is that Bianca Blair is an up and comer and could very well bring in fan favorite competition in the Women’s division if she continues to get pushed by the WWE. I expect the match to have a lot of attempted pinfalls and a couple of Bank Statements broken up. You may even hear this is awesome from the live crowd at Raymond James in Tampa. This is a tricky path for WWE because Bianca has good momentum and having her lose this match without it being an all out war could hurt her momentum and push her back to the bottom.

Sasha Banks Retains

WWE Championship - Main Event

Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre

The main event of the first night. Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre.

At this moment in WWE time, Lashley waited 16 years to be a champion and McIntyre waited nearly 17 years. Both me are deserving of the championship and I could see pathways for each superstar winning. Lashley is really embracing his role and he is doing good work as part of it, although he still needs to work on his mic and promo skills. McIntyre has had to put up with a number of build ups going back to the short build with Goldberg and disrespect. Then losing his title to the Money in the Bank cash in of The Miz. Lashley then defeated the Miz to become WWE Champion which has set this match up for the main event on Day 1. Because of the work Lashley has been doing and how good it has been, I think WWE has big plans for his future.
